Luke and I have frequented several parks this summer... I am going to rate them here. Now don't get me wrong all of the parks have fun stuff for kids, but this is what he seems to like best!
1. We LOVE the Lemmer Elementary School park. There are lots of fun things and tube slides which he loves to shout down. If you live nearby and hear "HEL-LOOOO" super loud it's probably us! He also calls this Papa's park, because it's near my parents house and they come over. I wonder if he likes it a lot because of that one time that Papa kept putting coins at the bottom of the slide for him to find! This park does require a bit of watching from the 'rents because it stretches across two areas and has some big kid climbing stuff that the "Super Hero" Luke thinks he can climb... but you just can't Nemo... oops I mean Luke. Or is it just keep swimming, swimming, swimming... k sorry! :) Luke's big into Nemo lately!
2. I really like the new John Besse one. It is perfect for a 2-3 year old. There isn't a lot of tall equipment that you have to worry about and he likes the climbing wall. Did I forget to mention the super sweet underlayment. If you know what that stuff is please comment below, because it is like walking on clouds. I came home and told Justin I want it in my classroom and he said I should see if the Besse family would be willing to donate to my classroom too, well, here's to dreaming! Parents, because this park is so safe and kid friendly, you can sit on a bench and watch... perfect for a night when your toddler still doesn't sleep through!! Don't even ask, alright?? Unfortunately, we went a second time and Luke was over it... he wanted to go to Lemmer! Oh well!!
3. The Escanaba Harbor Hideout from a toddler's standpoint is: SWEET, this place is huge and awesome, but wear your tennies because you will have to climb with them at some point. The equipment has tons to offer all ages and it's beautiful to be down by the water.
4. Soo Hill Elementary playground... as I am a proud Soo Hill Husky we have to go here. Especially when Luke asks to run up and down the hallways (I actually think he thinks that's my job, I guess it's partly true I'm never off my feet...) It has great equipment that's safe, but the problem is the graffiti!! If you live near there and catch someone doing it, please call the police.... I don't want a male anatomy lesson when I am playing with my son at the park!!
Doesn't that stink??
Anyway... there's lots of room to run and we usually have it all to ourselves! :)
He did love running all over and standing atop the stump!
5. The Ford River Park. It's close to home and usually very clean. Luke also LOVES running through the pavilion when it's open. There are two slides that are a bit too much for my little guy. The orange one that has a weird curve that almost shoots him off the side and a purple curvy one that he shoots out of backwards and gave me a concussion when I went down. Luke has pretty much learned to avoid those two!
Dun... dun... dahhh... he loves to climb up there, but understandably comes right back down those steps! Look at the beautiful treeline though! This park gets very little traffic too, so that makes it nice!
If you have any other great park suggestions in our area, please leave me a comment! Maybe we'll see you there sometime soon! :)
