I am still home with my feet up, so I hope I can kick this nasty bronchitis soon! Another doctor appointment today. We'll see what he has to say... apparently pregnant mamas take a little longer to get over this stuff, especially ones who stubbornly hold off going to the doctor until the last minute.
I have updated my lesson plans while I am resting here and thought you might like to peek at what each of our days look like. Click on the link to take you to the google doc.
Aren't they pretty!??
I made our Grandma Joyce a new schedule to follow too and am working on a small group lesson plan for me.
Following our mid year DIBELS reading test it became apparent that I have many students way above the expectation, a couple at the benchmark, but several are still struggling a little. This means, with Mrs. Wickham and Mrs. LaMarche's help, I will be changing up my interventions to best meet the needs of my students who need some more phonics practice. I am excited to start using Recipe for Reading lessons in small group. The students receiving extra support from Title 31A will also be given a modified homework packet so they can keep up with the extra practice they will be getting home from those teachers. You can also expect a little book from me each week that goes over the phonics skill we are covering in small group. Hopefully we can firm up the foundational skills they need to get them reading better. Grandma Joyce will be practicing reading fluency with them and the dolch sight word lists. Many of the students who struggled on the mid-year test are behind on sight words. Please, please, please practice the sight word homework that comes home each week and turn it in!!
On another note, almost my entire class was at or above benchmark on the DIBELS math test. I would like to thank Mrs. Brietzman for all her help in this area... she would tell you it was me, but it takes a village! You know!! :)
