We have had a busy "project-y" week! Here's a few of the things we accomplished:
Day 1, we started our unit on Needs and Wants by watching a Brain Pop Jr. video and discussing the things people need to live. On Day 2, we read Earrings by Judith Voirst (I'm sorry if it inspired a few of the girls to want pierced earrings too. I told the class I didn't get my ears pierced until I was twelve, so they might have to wait a bit, too!!) We then filled out a worksheet with all of our wants. I said this might be a good time to think of Christmas gifts! On Day 3 we did this cute Needs and Wants sort discussing each item and where it fit.
I was a little behind on Thanksgiving/Fall decorations, okay make that very behind... we still had Haunted Houses up until Tuesday! Where did the fall go?? Here are some of the decorations that are now making us look all kinds of festive!
This is our thankful turkey, we put this up a few weeks back. Each feather has what my students are thankful for. He's so cute. It was funny when a kindergarten student went by and said, "Hey, what's that chicken doing there!" Laughed out loud!!
I put together this deer project last year, it's quick and attractive. I was inspired by Pottery Barn. I can't find the picture from last year, but it was a wall hanging that had a khaki background and red deer profile for Christmas. It was like $250 dollars. I think I should learn to sew :)
This was another 2 day writing project. We wrote how to cook the turkey first and then made our handprint feather turkeys. They look awesome!!
I liked how she used the word gather, how sweet!
I liked how Nathan's last step was to take the bones out of the turkey!
I agree Abigail, it is good! I can't wait for the turkey, stuffing, and sweet potatoes and all the leftovers!!
